Engine stumbles when switching tunes?

Have a DP Tuner, was running in 1200 high idle today, returned it to stock, and then switched to 60e with engine idling. Well today the idle started stumbling around after the tune was switched. Going back and forth between tunes it consistently happens. Didn't used to do this. Going between stock and 60e now moves the idle 50 to 70 rpms

Also when high idling I now have an intermittent shake, like the engine moves, shimmies through the truck, back to normal, then rinse and repeat.

my F6 did this and it turned out I had cleaned the contacts on the PCM too much - too thin. I added solder to each pad, and it tightened up and worked.

Check the fitment of your chip on the PCM. It could be coming loose.

This could be a multitude of things going on. First thing to do is uninstall the chip an drive it stock for a while to see if you can replicate the situation.

If this does not happen with the chip out go to our site and create a help desk ticket describing what is going on and send the chip, switch and cable back to be inspected. Jody has some people send their PCM in as well so he can see how they have been cleaned. If too much copper is showing he can re-tin it for you while he has it here.

It would not be possible to replicate the situation with the chip removed because it only happens when changing tunes. Didn't use to do this but I've only had the chip for a couple weeks. After it stumbles the idle catches itself and appears normal.

I cleaned the PCM well but was very careful not to get down to the copper. Also sending the PCM would be impossible as this is my only vehicle....

Taking out the chip and seeing if it does it without will rule out the chip as being the culprit. With us being in different areas trying what we need you to do is really the only thing we can do to trouble shoot the situation from afar. The tuning is constant and does not change. If it is the tuning it would happen from the first time you installed it.

Ok let try this... Did the check engine light come on after the stumble? Typically it will. If it did you will need to pull that code and let us know what it is? From there we can usually pinpoint what is going on.

Our chip connectors fit tight to the J3 port so if any silicone is left behind it could be inferring with the J3 to chip connection. Stumbling could be from anything. Anything from a failing CPS to air in the fuel can cause a stumble. It is also a sign of a poor J3 to chip connection. Although you are certain you cleaned it well I would just look again to rule that out.

If none of these ideas work send it back to Jody so it can be inspected.

My brother had an old ATS chip that did the same thing. It would be fine switching up to 70 or 100, but if you had it in 100 and switched down to stock it would all but kill the motor!
