was reading on the other site about the chip defaulting to the stock setting or one guy had it get stuck in the high idle??? is this common with these style chips? or are they pretty reliable? i dont want something that will be jumping from programs by it self or locking into one.
Uhhh.... If something would go wrong with the switch - I believe you will be stuck on your first chip setting - so you don't want to get "high idle" or some weird setting on the first one. I have only heard about that one time I believe - so yea I'd say that are reliable.... and that really has to do with the switch - not the chip.
I read the same thing and since I have High Idle as my #1 setting I was somewhat interested. I have a clutch pedal so things can't get too hairy for too long. I think it is a very rare thing to have occur though. Had I know about the issue previously, I would have put H.I. at the 4th position.
BTW- Mine is an older Bully Dog chip and switch that I had brain-washed by Jody to his tunes.

This has been a problem for all of the chips based on TS Performance 6 Position blanks, no matter what brand they have painted on them (TS, DI, ATS, Sniper, Bully Dog, etc.). When this problem happens, it can be corrected (MOST OF THE TIME) by cycling the key off and then back on. Hope that helps.
Yeah my cousin had that problem, he's got a TS 4 pos. flip chip in his 1997 PSD and it stuck in one position and wouldn't cycle. His was a programming problem though, he had to take it back to seller's shop and have them re-program it, then it worked ok.
and on a side note, if you ever want to hear a PSD sound like it has a wild lopy cam in it cycle the program switch back and forth rapidly thru all of the programs....No kidding I saw a high school kid doing this to his truck to impress some girls!!! I'm sure the computer was going nuts!!!

I don't hear of this problem too often, so I wouldn't worry about too much.
are there 2 different blanks? 4 pos and 6 pos? is it the chip or the switch that is the problem?
kilapapipa is right, actual 4 position hardware is no longer made. The older 4 position hardware didn't have the problem.
The 6 position hardware used today (which can be from 1 to 6 positions as desired) is what is having the problem. The problem seems to be in the chip hardware as I've heard of people changing switches and the problem not going away.
