brake controller wiring issue help please

So I have a 2000 f250 std cab v8 2wd gas truck. Unfortunately I dont know much about its life as the truck was missing many things like manuals etc when I got it.

I am trying to install my prodigy brake controller. I initially looked under the dash and found no plug to plug into using the tekanosha cable with the correct end. So I ended up finding the same exact color coded wires - blue, red, white, black looking like they were snipped. So I assumed that must be it since the guy probably cut his out when he sold the truck. Wired it up and it didnt work. Found out I was missing the fuse in the box in the engine bay. I now have all the correct relays and fuses installed. Still doesnt work or turn on.

So I did some more research and found out ford in their great wisdom used the same color wiring in the same location for "upfitter" switches or auxilary stuff to save wiring through the firewall. Great except they werent marked and should have been a different color at least lol.

So my question is this: any chance some trucks did not come with this plug installed? Any chance someone can tell me if mine did if I give you the VIN? And if so any chance the wiring is still there or can I check in a different location somehow? Your help would be very much so appreciated as it sits now it seems like I am going to have to wire the whole thing back to the trailer connection in the back.

If it matters the truck came with the 7 pin connection on the back of the truck. Not sure if that means it has the tow package or was added later or not.

Both wiring harnesses did have labels originally. The trailer brake controller plug is located on the right side of the bulkhead....just behind and down from your cubby hole in the dash.
