Locking Fuel Cap or Locking fuel door - Opinions

Hey guys, I want to lock my fuel cap or door and wanted to see what anyone else uses.
I know Stant makes a locking cap, but the reviews I've seen weren't that good. I've also seen some aftermarket fuel doors on trucks around town, but don't know who makes them or if they lock.

What are you guys using?

Thanks

In 2009 and oddly enough, not long after I broke up with a chick, I got myself one from Autozone. The only real problem was that it wouldn't seal properly and if I made hard turn, fuel would spill out.

I fixed this by taking the rubber seal off the old cap and doubling up the seal on the new, locking cap. Haven't had a problem with fuel spilling since, I also don't have to worry about someone relieving me of fuel or putting something in it other than diesel.

Think this was the one I got: CST/Fuel Cap (5912) | 2001 Ford Excursion 4WD 8 Cylinders F 7.3L Turbo Diesel | AutoZone.com

I can't imagine needing a locking fuel cap after reading your signature.

I too wanted to add a locking fuel cap a while back. I ended up ordering one from rockauto.com. I'm sure the Stant and Gates locking caps would do just as well, but I ended up ordering the Motorcraft locking cap (Model FC935). For all I know the Motorcraft cap is a rebranded Stant/Gates. It has worked great for me..even through the ice/snow season. Rockauto sells the FC935 for around $19. There are some for around $8-10 at rockauto too.

I bought the Stant green colored cap on Amazon. It seems to be ok.
To my knowledge no one has tried to relieve me of any fuel.

Thanks guys,

I think I'll go ahead and get the green Stant cap.

Happy Motoring!

I had locking ones on before,, I've got 3 filler necks, and I must've got some real cheap ones. I could grap the cap, n get it off without the key. I'm guessing yours are stronger than that??? Or is it just a "keeping honest people honest" thing??? Thx

More of a 'keeping people honest' thing. I suppose if someone were desperate or determined enough they're gonna get the cap off or just poke around into the wheel well and cut the rubber hose.
