Hey guys, im trying to replace my fuel filter and have run into a bit of a problem. Im using a wix 33617 filter. Im trying to install the sense but im not sure where it is. I think it maybe this hex bolt on the bottom of the old filter. But if thats true shouldnt it have wiring going to it?
The light had been flashing so obviously there is something getting power. If anyone could also tell me where the wiring should trace back to thatd be great.
I can't remember where the wire goes to, but its a little L-shaped black plastic connector I believe. It just presses on to the threaded part thats sticking up. I would look around under the filter and see if its flopping around loosely. It probably comes off the wiring going to the fuel heater at the top of the filter housing.
I want to say the filter should have come with a little o-ring to go on the sensor when you swap it over.
I dont think the filter comes with an o-ring for the sensor. It could be flashing from the wire that should go on the post, grounding. If its just flopping around, and it touches metal the light will come on.
I dont think the filter comes with an o-ring for the sensor.
When I bought my filter (wix 33617) I got 2 to save on shipping and have a spare. Just checked the box, and its got a little baggie with an o-ring and slip of paper showing where to put it.
It did come with an o ring. The only wire that was flopping around i thought plugged into the outlet next to the fuel line closest to the cab that goes to the injector at the front passenger side.
Like said, should be a black elbow that snaps on the sensor. Check the elbow, mine was broken inside the plastic. The metal made no connection. Sounds like yours must have a bare place on the wire somewhere.
Speaking of filters, where can I order the good ones? I get mine at my local carquest or napa. Good ones, both are made by wix, but 40$ a pop!
I got mine at napa and it was the one that omits the bottom bowl,,u just remove the water in fuel sensor and in stall it in the bottom of new fillter,,I was in a hurry,,but i wan't to find a smaller micron fillter ,,they told me it was 12 micron,,#3617
