Help with fuel filter change

Alrighty. So I changed my fuel filter today but somthin was not quite right. The filter that was in there seemed to be one peice, like the lid and filter I had to pull the filter off with pliers. So anyhoo I was able to screw the lid back on with the new filter which is a napa gold filter and it screwed all the way down and sealed, but somehow I don't think thats the original lid. Can anyone shed some light on this, should I go to the dealer and try to get a new lid or should I be ok. thanks

Why don't you think the lid is original? The filter is one piece other than oring. The filter fits in open end down, then the cap screw down on top. Post a picture.

There are 2 different types of filter replacements. You can buy just the filter, or the filter with the lid attached. I'm assuming that the one you removed was the second type. I'd buy a new factory type lid. Just my 2 cents...

Yeah thats what I am thinking. It fit on there but its not the original. I just going to buy a replacement to be safe.

I've used both types. If you buy the one with lid just put the original lid in a safe place and wait for next filter change and get the factory type. They both work just fine.
