Key Fob Replacement
Just purchased a 2006 F-250 XLT, and it is missing the remote key fobs. In reading some of the posts, I want to confirm all I have to do is purchase some new fobs off ebay or a dealer, and do the reprogram procedure. Then I should be up and running? Thanks

That is what you have to do. I went to my dealer, bought them there and they programed them for me on the spot no charge. (minus the cost of the fobs).

dude just buy them from ebay, i bought myself two new ones and my dad bought one extra one. In your manual it tells you how to reprogram your keyfod and door keyfob if you have one. Its a simple five or six step procedure that takes about two minutes tops

Your sure that you have the option to use them?
If not try the programming steps and see if the locks
cycle to indicate that you in the programming mode.
If they don't then getting the fob won't do anything other than
lessen you cash in your pocket.

Back in the day when working at a dealership I programmed a lot of fobs. I'd just dig up a couple out of a pile we had or a trade in. In doing so there is really only one thing that matters. The fobs have a letter code as part of the numbers on the back. Those letters, IIRC like AA, AB, BB, etc need to match. If they match any fob from any ford product with enough buttons will work(trunk, rear window, etc) so for a truck they all work(just doors). And assuming they are all the same code up to 4 can be programmed to the truck.
Programming is super easy, put the key in the ignition and turn it on and off like 10 times until the locks cycle then press lock on each of the fobs.

As stated in my first post I purchased this truck used and was missing the fob. Received my new fods today (Ebay) and went to program them with no luck. I assume my truck has this feature, it is well equipped. (XLT Trim, power seats, 6 disc cd player, and not door key hole on passenger door). So how do I tell if my truck came with remote locks?
