Need key and remote

Is there an online source to get a Ford key and remote fob at a reasonable price?

I know I will have to get them both programmed at a whopping 42.50 each no matter what, but it would be nice to save a little on the hardware.

Dealer wants 45 for key, and 79.58 for remote.

That makes one key and remote set 209.58 before tax.

I see them on ebay all of the time. Remotes go for about 10-20 bucks and key's go for about 10. Most of the remotes come with program instructions also.

i see those prices too but always worry if they will actually work. i have had numerous customers bring in ebay brought remotes and keys for vw's and a very small percentage actually work. i too need a spare key and remote(wifey lost hers) and am interested in a resonable alternative to dealer pricing.

I just bought a 2 Pats keys off ebay for the X and I am going to program the keys myself. Search Fte for the instructions on how to Program your own key.

Ya I understand your concern about the keys. I work at a vw dealer and we don't even touch keys that weren't bought at our dealership, but those keys are a whole different ball game than these ford keys. The vw key's actually have a transponder in the key itself.

try checking a local locksmith too...i thought i lost a key and the dealer wanted over $100 to cut and program a new PATS key for me..a local locksmith cut and programmed a new key and disabled the lost one for $45...

you must have 2 working keys or remotes to program them yourself..

i found the "lost" key in another car of mine...least it was only $45...

We just picked up our Excursion Friday and it only came with one remote and one key. I was a little impatient and went to the dealer today before searching this site. Turns out it wasn't to bad. I got a new key, programmed, and the keyless entry code for $63 including tax. A new remote would have been an additional $69. I figure with the keyless entry code, my wife and I don't both need a remote so I'm satisfied.

BTW, love the forum!

Ebay.

Only if you don't have two working PATS keys.

To program additional PATS keys yes, you need two working PATS keys, but to program a remotes, all you need is one working PATS key.

Between my wife's Excursion, my Lightning, and my daughters Escape, I've probably purchased over a dozen PATS keys on ebay, and have zero failures.

I dug them out. One is barely used and the other is brand new. Make you good deal.

I bought a remote in December from this e-bay seller. Works great; easy to program! $15.00 including shipping, how can you go wrong!! Here's a link if you still need:
