-12mm offset, different between 9" and 10"?

Im looking at some wheels for my truck, both the same kind, but not sure which to go with. I had 17x9 -12mm offset with 35x12.5x17s on my old truck, just leveled, with no rubbing and a little under an inch from the springs at full lock

Im looking at the same 17x9 -12mm offset, or perhaps 18x10 -12mm offset, both with 35x12.5s. Is there a difference in how far the tire sticks out or how close it will get to the leafs with the wider 10" wheel? just trying to picture it in my head, but its not working too well

Any other offset recommendations? Id like it to stick out slightly past the fenders, but still maintaining clearance between the leafs. Im planning on running Toyo MTs and it seems their 35x12.5x18s are rather wide, like actually around 13.1" so im thinking they will be closer to the leafs than my old cooper STTs were...

Thanks!

I also see now the wheel im looking at has a 18x8.5, 0mm offset, 4.75" backspace. What will those look like? if i went with that id probably run the narrower 285x75x18 toyo MT

the millimeter measurement is from the center of the wheel, regardless of its width... so in theory a 10" versus 9" wide wheel with the same offset should have half an inch more on each side installed on the vehicle. contrarily backspacing depends on the wheel width.. that figure is measured from the edge of the wheel, so width is a factor.

a 0mm wheel will be pulled in further than a -12mm.. -24mm would be out even further than -12mm.

right. a 10" vs 9" wheel wont make it any closer to the leafs then correct? it'll just make the tire fit better i guess...the 35x12.5x18 toyo mt recommended rim width is 10", but its a rather wide tire so i think it may hit the springs with -12mm offset. the coopers are actually 12.5" wide

it will be 1/2" closer to the leafs, since the 1" increase in overall width is split evenly between both sides of the wheel in maintaining the same offset.

If the offset is the same, the tire tread will be in the exact same location regardless of wheel width. The wider wheel will have a slightly fatter appearance, but it won't affect your tire fitment. I prefer to use offset rather than width and backspace for wheel fitment for this reason. Determine what offset you need to fit the size tire you want to run, then choose wheel width based off the specs of the tire you want to run.

So if i was to run the 35x12.5x18 toyo mt, which on their website they say is actually like a 35x13.1x18 on a 18x10 with -12mm offset, do you think it would hit the leafs? Id like it to stick out a little, especially since i have small factory fender flares that add width, but i certainly dont want it to hit the leafs. need all the turning radius i can get in this thing

Looks like -18mm wheels will have the same clearance as stock..but i dont see too many with that spec

this is basically what im going for...might just do the same thing again, 17x9 -12mm offset with 35x12.5x17s. even the toyo mt in that size is ridiculously wide though. and if i get the 34x11.5x17, 9" rim is on the verge of too wide

In my sig pic, I'm running 35x12.50 tires on 10" wide wheels with -10mm offset. They were about 3/4" from the leaf springs at full lock and the tread edge stuck out about 1/2" past the top of the fender. What you describe should fit almost identically.

What tires are you running, the toyos? And what were you refering to that i described, the 17x9s or 18x10s?

Tires were Cooper Discoverer STT in 35x12.50, I don't remember if they were 17" or 18" wheels, but they were -10mm offset. The two 35x12.50 setups you listed will basically fit the same since they both are -12mm offset wheels, wheel diameter won't make a difference in anything by sidewall height.
