I need some help understanding what wheels, and more specifically what backspace/offset, works on these trucks. And, by "works" I mean that the tire/wheel combo fit inside the fender and don't rub on tight turns.
As said elsewhere, I put a 15x10 wheel with a 275/60R15 tire combo on mine that had 3" of tire sticking out of the fender. It reminded me of the little trucks that have been lowered and have what appear to be thread spools for wheel/tire combo's. That's not what I'm looking for.
But, I know that some of you are running 15x8's and 15x10's and, from the pictures I've seen, still have everything within the fender. So, what backspace and/or offset do your wheels have? Either of those spec's would suffice to let me pick a new wheel. Or, it might be possible to determine those spec's by knowing the brand and model of wheel.
Ive got a 1981 F150 with a homade flatbed, now on the rear axle im running 15x10 with some 11 1/2" wide Tires....this is ofcoarse for the look, but they do not stick out because my flatbed overhangs my cab on eithersid by about 4"...on the front of the truck i have a set of Radial LT235/75R15 on 15x8" inch rims....these tires fill the fender nicely, without a lift kit and do not stick out ....the 8" inch width of wheel is your best bet i would say.
my rims are white spoked .....now the front ones i believe were a ford factory product because they have the three threaded holes for the canter caps to screw on, and i have about 9 inches of space from the widest part of the tire in front, to the frame rail, and it never rubs
Well, just bought some Ford aluminum wheels via Craig'slist. Don't know the spec's on them, but they are the 10-hole ones with rivets around the outer edge and center caps with the red emblem.
