New to 6.0 diesel, had a slight hesitation and skip (no CEL) between 60 and 70 mph after reading on here about egr, i pulled it and cleaned it. Seem to help but still had some skipping and hesitation, but then my CEL came on and gave me egr codes and FICM code. Im going to go ahead and put a new egr in but could the egr systoms cause a false FICM code because of the "skipping"? Thanks
The EGR will not cause FICM codes, what was the FICM code? Do you have any gauges that read live data like scan gauge II or one of the smartphone apps like dashboss for IOS or torque for android?
just got the codes from the superchip data reader, Im learning as I got this is my first diesel and I just bought in Nov. It has 180+ mainly highway miles and was regularly P.M.
Dang it! Didnt want to hear that..... So repair, new, ive seen the tech folder on doing it but what about the programming. If I buy a new one does it come programmed or do I have to have it done or can I do it? Sorry, like I said new to this.
Most on here, my self included, will suggest FICMrepair.com for repair. If you can park the truck a few days. Send it to Ed, and He can repair it very quickly.
Also, you need to test your electrical system to make sure it is working properly. Batteries and alternator need testing. Check and clean the ground connections. Also, when you remove the FICM, check the wiring harness for chaffing.
Batteries tested good at the dealer 2 weeks ago when I got fluid and filter(s) changed. So it could be somthing as simple as a ground connection, alternator, chaffed harness causing the code and the FICM is still good?
