Code P0401-Unplug EGR-Now code P0403, P0405

I had the code p0401 so I thought it was time to unplug the EGR. I did it, cleared the code, and then the engine light came on. The codes were P0403 and P0405. I tried to clear them with my scanner but they would not clear. Any help with this would be great.

I have an 03 6.0 Excursion and the engine is completely stock.

that's normal. one of the reasons I don't recommend unplugging it. Plug it back in or go get an entire new egr.

I leave my egr unplugged and it gives me the PO403 and PO405 but if I plug the egr back in I can clear the codes with no problem.

Maybe the PO401 code you had is telling you that the egr is bad and that is why the codes won't clear.

pretty sure P0401 is lack of egr flow meaning the computer can tell the EGR system is not functioning correctly

Hello, I had P0403 on my Escape 2003, Bad DPFE and a wire damaged on Solenoide (Ground open). I replaced The DPFE and put a jumper on the ground wire. P0403 is gone already

Regards.

I have the same problem on a 2003 Escape. The ground signal (EVR/EGRVR) makes it from pin 47 on the PCM right to the edge of the EGR Solenoid (Valve) connector and then not thru to the pin. Was your open in the wire or did you find a way to open up the connector and and put a jumper in it? I haven been able to find a way to open it and would rather not have to spend $35 bucks to replace the conector.
Thanks.

Hello, The wire coming from EGR was open (Pretty near to the Valve), when I was checking signals I notice that, I did not check from PCM. It was lose and broken wire.
Regards.
