Will a Garret 38R turbo not work on the earlier 7.3's? And why do you need head studs. Upon planning the build of my own 2001 7.3 for up to 450 hp I was told no need for head studs. That was with 160/100's and a 38r turbo and ts 6 pos chip with highest setting being 140 hp. I was also told my stock hpop would work just fine.
??
Studs are for insurance really. To use a 38R on an OBS you need to change uppipes and a manifold, IIRC it's the drivers. Super dutys also have a 17* HPOP vs the 15* of the OBS.
^^This. I dont think the headstuds are so much for the hp as they are for the boost. I'm no engine builder but I think 40 psi is kinda the limit here and with stage 2's you'll be right there knocking on it.

I can get 33 psi with the stock turbo and my 120cc right now
Studs are for cylinder pressure. Once you get close to the 40psi of boost you should do studs. In a perfecto world you want your setup to be a 1 to 1. Meaning if you are pushing 35psi then back pressure should 35psi or damn close.

I have AB codes and proof it was sold in Nevada. Idk what you tell yall. But that what it is. Its weird i know
Is the sticker on the passenger valve cover blue? Being sold in Nevada it's probably a California truck since it's in close proximity to California.
A large amount of these trucks that were sold in Oregon are California models. Mine was originally sold in Oregon and it's a cali truck. Something to do with the EPA I'm sure.
Nice list for the build!
At first my impression was you were doing it all at once in which case I would have had different suggestions for power since you'd have the entire thing torn apart.
If I ever hit the lottery and can swing 15k on mods all at once.. i would have a monster build.
Cant think of all the things ive bookmarked off the top of my head, but im talking EVERYTHING would be custom! lol
