go fast cheap build

so lately i been over on obn and its getting really boring there with no real help.

time to move to fte hopefully i can stay out of the other sub forums this time.

anyway ive been gathering parts for the turbo to go on the truck. and its almost time to put parts on. i have a t70 that will mount off the stock style ats up pipe.

then i have some other plans in the works but it will be done in stages. first turbo, then type4 cam with studs, 910 valve springs etc. then ill build up a short block if all works out well.

so some teaser pics mocking up the turbo etc. it should be going on within the month ( weather permitting) i have a race to go to on the 8-9 or else it would be sooner.

Sounds like a cool build. Be sure to include parts price list. What are you doing for fuel?

Are you going to re-clock that compressor to line up with the snail?...Or are you going with a intercooler?....

remind me on the price point then once i got everything. a lot has been bartered for etc.
heres what i can remember this early:
ss magnaflow 4 inch 01 psd ex exhaust one mountain bike
turbo i have 200 in thats what my hx35-40 hybrid cost that i traded my buddy for this one because he got a t3 manifold and a t4 turbo, and a coat hanger dont cut it.
than i got about $100 in misc adapters and fittings

racer to start with well, sorta, maybe ,not. it depends, that is just the mock up im going to get the up pipe on friday ( found one used $50) i have an intercooler and if i can find some honda intakes on cl ill install it, but ill need more piping i think.

Where is your fuel coming from? You can pump all of the air into this thing you want, but it needs enough fuel to burn, and that has been the sticking point for many so far. It sounds like an interesting build, I'll stay tuned.

well fuel im going to find the limits of the stock pump i plan to dyno it a few times to check how it does. then once i find the limit ill go with a moose or db4 depending on what i need by then. im going to set the wg at 15 psi to start then cam and studs till its opened up till its full potential. then new pump, unless mine takes a crap by then.

a stock pump gotta be good to 250 hp by the numbers. 120cc is 320 or so and 150 is 400 roughly by what ive collected. but the pump is more income tax money i suck at saving up.

id like to get a pump and cam setup for the torque over anything else. the pulling low end grunt is what i want most. also a manual trans will help t19 is also in the works.

Good to see your *** over here... This is where the creativity lives anyway...

I think the T-70 will be a little big, but its a turbo that hasn't been tested very much either... so run it so we can find out.

You going to intercool it?

o i forgot to mention i got an old discontinued power adder. back in the day early 90s the towing company who owned the truck blew the motor and installed an aftermarket stroker motor. from what i heard from a p/o they only sold a few of these things because the company went out of business before the warrenty ran out. its got a stroker kit in it 7.6l (by the math i was given) and by the maps the turbo will be just a hair big, so unless you want to donate one to my cause itll work good. sorry had that in my sig on obn but dont have it here.

yes it will get intercooled i need to find more hondas to rob their intakes first though. looking at current timing in prep for the turbo and egts ill probally need one. ill get some pics of the ic and up pipe tomorrow up.

also turbo is an egay unit with good internals. buddy bought it and had the good internals put in then realized he bought a t3 flange manifold for his audi and i had my hx35/40 hybrid laying around, long story short i got this turbo.

The bushings are what is crap in those chinese turbos and the compressor wheel has lead in the center under the nut on most of them. SOOOO if the wheel blows up you will know why. It may not but has hapenned.
Also, you do know that "go fast cheap", are words that usually dont play well together.

There was a guy over on PSN iirc his handle was 429idi who had a T70 on his 6.9. It spooled a bit slow until he added propane and then it spooled pretty well. It will be interesting to see the difference in spool with the added cubic inches.

Will be good for plenty of top end for sure. with the stroker and a big pump that thing will be a monster.

However if your goal is low end torque / towing im thinking that its a bit big to achieve those goals without help.
