I have a 100% stock 351W on an engine stand that i rebuilt for a friend of mine.I put the headers on the engine last night to check fitment and a few other things.
BTW, this is a 1988 F150 4X4 Auto Trans Reg Cab Short Bed
What I found is that the DRIVER SIDE header is pinning itself against the oil pan. The oil pan is stock, i have checked and double checked the part number with summit and Holley.
The only thing I found that worked was to add another gasket to the driver side manifold. Now, its about a sixteenth of an inch off the oil pan. I would rather not leave two gaskets in there, but im really at a loss here.
Have any of you guys noticed that on builds that you have done in the past? If so, how did you correct the problem?
Thank in advance guys, this has been the only hiccup in the whole build.
That almost sounds likw you have a set of headers not for that motor. I'm not sure what bolts up to small block Fords but you need to check the part numbers and berify they are for that application.
