I run T-6 here in the FL panhandle, no issues with it being 5w. I prefer the synthetic is the reason. Now more about this filter, it sure would make it easier to change as opposed to being tucked up in there...lol
As far as I know, t-6 comes in 5w and I heard they recently came out with 0w. Usually 5w is needed more in colder climates, but I see no negative effects using it in the Florida sunshine.
I looked at the plotted curves one time between them, and iirc the viscosities were all about the same from 60* and up. The curves start to separate more below 60.
Might this be an alternative to a bypass oil filter? Not 2 micron, but maybe a nice improvement for extending oil changes to 7.5K or even 10K with synthetic? Hmm...
Nothing wrong with Amsoil, but honestly, good filtration is the key. At the mileage you're talking about, you're not going to see much of an added value in the Amsoil. Spend your money on installing a single bypass unit, and run dino oil or Rotella synthetic.
I will say this...I think the Amsoil filters are fantastic, and their oil is great too. But "HERS" is about to switch to T6 on the next oil change, after 10+ years of running Amsoil. "HIS" has always had Rotella dino oil without a bypass...I am not likely going to switch to synthetic, but will add a bypass at some point. It only gets driven about 7-8k a year anyway.
