Hey guys, I wanted to say thanks for ALL the help. Turns out it was the ground wire on the wiper motor that was giving me hell. But I got it fixed now so everything is good to go. OH! And the earth is actually shaped like texas lo (at least the important partsl

Glad you got it fixed. With the frame tab missing from the battery ground cable the only ground on the truck is the one on the wiper motor. What you probably were getting was a ground through the shift linkage and when you put it in drive it moved enough to break the circuit. I would go ahead and add a frame ground as some stuff only grounds to the frame at the back. If you have one of the universal ground cables it will have a small pigtail with a crimp splice that is empty. You can get a ground wire off something else and attach it to the body. 1992-96/7 trucks have this already.
