Unhook your battery and park it. Tomorrow is a new day. You might have to rip the dash off and start tracing wires. But unhook your battery.

I'll bet the problem began with a tan & white wire in the headlight switch harness.

You can put the headlights on relays there's a diagram floating around the forum on how to do this

I had to purchase a new wiring block for the same application. Mine melted down. That's was 7 years ago, and I tried through the parts counter to get the part, but the young kid couldn't find it. Luckily there was an older ford guy in the back that knew what I was talking about. 50$ and I was soldering and wiring, back on the road again.

They sell the headlight switch plug at most napa or auto part brand stores. Or go directly to the dealership. New plug, wires and switch you should be alright.

I didn't check the parts store, but went directly to the dealership. Napa may very well be a better option as they seem to have parts for vintage vehicles that other part stores don't seem to store or have access too.

$9.99 at autozone, my local has it in stock.
You can but the relay upgrade harness from LMC for close to what you can buy the parts to make your own. This article shows how to do your own and does a pretty good job of explaining why it should be done.
