Shifting into reverse problem

Just got a 98 f150 yesterday and I noticed last night when I went to shift into reverse, with the clutch all the way to the floor as I tried pulling the shifter back, it sounded like the clutch wasnt engaged at all. Shifting from all the other gears works just fine. Ive found that If the truck is off and I start it in reverse it works just fine. Any suggestions?

Try putting it in a forward gear first, then reverse. That stops the gears from spinning.
Those transmissions sometimes "block" reverse engagement somehow. Let the clutch out a bit when you go for reverse, it might slip in then.

It worked fine when it was warm out, then got cold again and it started acting up again

Not sure about Ford, but many hydraulic clutch setups are adjusted by simply hooking your toe under the pedal and pulling it up to the top of its stroke. Might try that.....
