05' F250 6.0L. I have to get a scanner to turn my check engine light off due to get my EGR delete. Unfortunately the mechanic did the delete by welding it shut so cant plug it back in. Therefor, I have to get a scanner! any suggestions on a scanner and the codes I need? Money is tight so cant spend a fortune I just have to pass inspection. Any feedback in much needed and appreciated. Next week is the inspection. Thanks guys
Then to get the light to go out and stay out your going to have to get a tuner like the SCT
from Gearhead Automotive Performance
Matt does a very good job at writing tunes for the 6.0L
Here is the tuner package they sell Gearhead Automotive Performance
This is what I run and really like it.
One thing you can try is take the old EGR valve and plug it back in and just place it in the valley and
maybe zip tie it in place. That may or may not solve the light (CEL) unless you have one of the later
programing strategies in your truck. The later ones also look at the IAT2 sensor to verify that the
EGR system is in fact working and not blocked off.
Anyway come on over to the 6.0L Forum and ask questions and get some good info.
so it is still removable and replacable then? if so i'd do like i mentioned and try to find a take-off from someone on here if you truly want the cheapest route.
yes I believe I can still remove it. You think I can find a take off by starting a new thread?I am new tho this whole forum thing so hang with me haha thanks
i've been hanging on to mine in case i need it for something (like so much other stuff i own lol) so if you can't allocate one i may be able to help. welcome to the forum, you've found one helluva resource... i can't imagine owning a 6.0 without it!
Right on, Thanks for the advice. I am gonna start a thread and If I cant find one I get in contact. inspections are due at the end of the month which is right around the corner so i gotta get on it. thanks again
