BFG AT KO alternatives?
I have an '03 F250 PSD used for both off road (getting to hunting sites) as well as daily highway driving to work etc. no lift, just factory 265/75R16 size. I sometimes pull a med size light bumper pull camper (20ft double axle)..not a 5er, no horse trailer, no dump trailer etc.etc.
I put my first set of BFG AT KO on 30 k mi ago and they are now toast. These are possibly the worst set of tires I have ever owned. Constantly needed balancing, air, took my mpg down 2.3 mpg, and are slick as snot on snow and ice...AND nearly bald at 30k. wtf?
I cannot understand why so many people love these tires! Did I just get a bad set?
My question is: what is everyone's opinion on the best alternative to these tires? I want something that doesn't kill my mileage, and is better on snow and ice, and lives longer than 30k. Everything I see either looks way more aggressive- or way less.
any suggestions appreciated.

I had great luck with my BFG ATs. I didnt take them to extremes, but I drove them on every surface, dirt, snow, mud, ice, sand etc. and never had problems. I hear a lot of people complain about slick in snow, but I was on a trail and got above about 5000ft and got into 5-10inches with no problems. "CHAINS REQUIRED" was posted of course. No chains lol. Right now I have Hankook Dynapro MT

I dont like the terra grapplers, or trail grapplers. The terra grapplers wear ok but suck in any type of off road situation, and the trails wear horrible but are pretty good offroad
Id recommend the Cooper Discoverer S/T Maxx. They are in that size, and a VERY nice tire. Quiet, good load range, wear very well and awesome in every situation i had them in (snow, ice, slush, mud, dirt, gravel,dry/wet pavement). Or the Cooper STT or Toyo MT, but those are a little more aggressive. Have heard good things about the duratracs too, but a few reports that the sidewall seemed weak

I like my Goodyear Duratracs. Only had them about 3,500 miles so can't comment on longevity, but there was poster on here who got 72,000 out of a set...but I'm confident I won't get anywhere close to that.
They do perform very well in snow and ice though. We got 10+" earlier this month and truck handled that and some 2ft plus drifts w/ not so much as a slip. There's quite a bit of siping so they stuck well on ice/packed snow as well. The only thing I'll mark them down on is picking up small rocks, the tread blocks are pretty wide so it can pick up rock and then propel them at the body.

My BFGs probably sucked because the TTB on the broncos was a pain to keep aligned right. The BFG ATs have no center tread so freeway miles were hard on them. Had I used them off road all the time, it probably would have been a great trail tire.
It's like asking what the best kind of bread is.
The Toyo ATs are a great road tire with moderate off road trail use. Nice center tread. The Terra Grappler had a good center section too but neither are hard core off road tires.

Haha. I'm sure different tires suit different people differently.

No off road tire is going to be worth a damn in the snow or ice. I wonder if they make a studded 36 inch blizzak. I drove rear wheel drive BMW with a set of blizzaks. It was unstoppable.
