I finally have the time and money set aside to potentially put headers on my truck (2000 F250 CC 2V). Picked the headers (Thorley 218YC's) but am having a few second thoughts.
Will headers make noticeable difference in the way the trucks runs/pulls? I currently pull my TH (9to 10K loaded) or boat (5k), and with the 5Star tuner it seems to do OK. With how labor intensive this job is, I am of the mind that unless there is a big difference in performance then maybe it's not worth it.
I know from my own experience that headers made a difference in the mid-to-high-end RPMs. So if you're towing and need the extra horses in the mid-to-high range, yeah, they will help.
^ you'll feel it definitely while pulling. Another thing is for being a 2000, the headers and studs are probably to the point where within the next few years you're going to need new ones anyways. Time to get it over with
I have no doubt your exhaust manifold bolts are about shot. Mine is an 04 and with 67k it had 5 broken studs. My headers resolved the broken bolt problem once and for all. The headers really helped the mid range power, towing it pulls very strong now. Well worth the effort to install headers, especially the Banks headers I have.
My manifold studs were going bad so it was big job. When I replaced the Hedman with the newer Hedman set it wasn't hard so I would do it again. Go look at your stock y pipe and see the restriction then you won't question if it makes more power.
okay, I'm wanting a set as well, have a 00 EX. what do you guys recommend nowadays sincethese trucks been around a while? Bang for buck people, bang for buck
Hedman was my pick but they had to be replaced due to a weak collector. I don't know if they still sell them or are just making replacements. New set is bigger and working fine.
