I been thinking of getting some headers, but if I do, will they fit with the stock Y-Pipe? I really don't want to get a whole new exhaust, I just want to add headers.
The long tube header has better scavenging characteristics which helps pull the exhaust gases from the combustion chamber and they tend to have a better balanced flow rates from one cylinder to the next compared to the shorty headers. Hope this helps..
How much of a difference did the Ford Motorsports shorties make? I have been contemplating what to buy and i keep coming back to them I just didnt have any feedback on what they "actually do"

The Ford motorsport shorties made a difference you can feel, escpecially in the mid to upper rpm range. I removed them once for a day or so and could immediately feel a decresae in power so they definately help out.
Yes, I reset the ECU after putting the headers on just to start it off with a clean slate after the install. As far as air intake I'm running a K&N drop in filter with a cut airbox, a BBK 56mm twin throttle body and an Edlebrock EFI truck intake manifold. This combined with the shorty headers and exhaust make for a good running combo
The bottom end performance is fine with no loss of low end torque. For pipes after the shorty headers I'm running dual 2 1/4" pipe to Catco high flow cats followed by an H-pipe with 30" glasspacks after that with 3" chrome rolled tips 45'd out behind the rear wheels, sounds and performs great.
