Hey all I'm looking for a complete front disk brake conversion for my 50 F-1 I have looked at the one from speedway but says good on till 48" I want to retain my stock axle and spindles. So who sells a COMPLETE kit master cylinder and booster for under the truck.
Is the kit offered from mid-fiftys a good option? Does it require replacement of the factory spindles?
All of Mid Fifty's parts are for 53-56, don't know if it would work on 50 spindles. Have you tried MF's sister (literally) company Classic Haulers? Classic Haulers F-1 Parts - Home they specialize in the bonus built truck parts. The gals at both companies are really sharp and know their trucks. CH's catalog is not yet downloadable, and the online info is incomplete, but if you give them a call they will be glad to help you, and you can rest assured the info will be accurate.
this one says 48 to 56 i think a few people on here have used this kit. i
personally had no use for disc brakes but did go with a duel master out of a 68 mustang
I used the kit from Speedway, along with their master cylinder/booster combo. You will also need a proportioning valve, as well as residual pressure valves if you're going to put the booster/master cylinder in the stock location. Around $500 total.
Thanks for the responses guys I called speedway the other day and the guy I taked to was wanting to sell me spindles too to fit the kit. But it looks like the kit mentioned above would work along with the master cylinder kit. Wonder why they dont make it one big kit??
I ran a search for street rod mfg and the only ones I seen listed where for F-2 and F-3's eight bolt.
I'll probably give classic haulers a call before I order anything I do remember seeing something listed in their book now that you mention it..
Classic Haulers list about 6 what they call "the whole shebang" front disk brake kits. Unfortunately they don't differentiate between them on line. Do give them a call, and be sure to compare all they include in their kits to the competition. If you can find a better price for the same they will match it. They are one of the best suppliers you can deal with, they REALLY love our trucks and understand customer service.
I put the performance online front discs kit (discs, calipers, brackets and bearings) on my '49 F1, which attached to my existing spindles. Pretty please with it. I replaced the master cylinder and brake lines from a separate supplier, although I believe they do sell master cylinders with or without a booster.
They also have an eBay shop (user:performanceonline-pol) and sometimes do deals on there, occasionally there are low start price auctions, not 'buy it now' so you can get good deals if not too many people bid.
