I've done a search, can't find if this has been specifically discussed. I would like to convert the front drum brakes to disc on my '50 F2. My understanding is that the F2 spindles are different from the F1 and the kits available from the various vendors (CPP, etc.) won't work. Any information on how I can do this?
The spindles are the same on F2 and F3 as F1 so kits for an f1 will work for an f2. As long as you don't mind 5 lugs, I don't think anyone makes a kit with 8 lugs.
The spindles and the axle itself are the same on an F-1 and an F-2. The difference is the hub and brakes. If you don't mind converting to 5 lug, then about any of the disc brake kits should fit you spindles just fine. You may have to source a pair of 5 lug hubs, though. I'm not aware of anyone who produces a kit for an 8 lug disc swap.
There are some posts here about using Bronco (I think) discs on the stock spindles on here.
I'm in Kansas City and am also working on an F2. Feel free to email or PM me with questions - I may have answers and/or know where local parts or sources are.
He no longer has a gallery but he sent me the pictures and information. I wanted to set up a tech page on my web site. I don't have time right now to post what he sent me but I'll try in the near future.

Hmm, it was a guy from CPP who told me the spindles were different. He recommended swapping te entire axle to a F1 axle. Sounds like that's not completely true.
I am already planning to go to 5-lug - I'm right now in the midst of swapping to a '72 F100 9" rear end. So I need to find the 5-lug hubs? Is there something workable I can salvage from? Not sure I am completely following everything that Oilyowl did on his.
Sorry if I seem ignorant but I've never done this type of thing before, still learning.
I ordered the disc brake conversion from Speedway. It mounted on my F3 axle like it was meant to be there. I went with 5 lug on 4.5 to match my 9". It will all be under the hub caps anyway so no one will know (at a quick glance anyway) that it doesn't have 8 lugs on it.
Mike
The front axle/spindles are identical on the F-1, F-2, and F-3 trucks, the difference is the hubs, the F-1 with the 5 bolt pattern and the F-2/3's with the 8 bolt.
As of right now, I don't believe anyone makes an 8 bolt conversion, all are home made. I'm adding disc brakes on the front of my F-3, however I'm also swapping in a 4wd axle.
