I took the truck out for some new shoes and fresh air yesterday and found the drivers side Twin I-beam plastic laying back against the cab instead out like it is supposed to be. I have never pulled one off but think I recall seeing some feet on it.
Any suggestions on repairing it without removing the whole thing?
Also stopped at the grocery on the way home after stretching his legs and it didn't want to start, almost ran the battery down. After several attempts, pulling the breather and seeing gas vapor after a pump, it fired and I drove it home. Any ideas on that one?
There's no way of repairing the emblem on the truck, it has to be removed, but this is EZ
Emblem retained to fender with barrel clips. Use a plastic putty knife or something similar to work emblem off fender so you won't scratch the paint.
Rick repro's the plastic inserts, but these were never available from Ford, only supplied with the emblems. Installing insert in emblem can be a real b!tch.
There are tabs that have to be bent gently outwards to get the insert out, then bent gently back into position to retain the insert in place.
If the tabs snap off, you'll have to epoxy the inserts in place.
Seems to me your truck suffered an attack of self inflicted vapor lock. Maybe it's jealous since you acquired 2004, as it's not being driven as much.
Sending unit: Remove the puppy from the tank, take float off crooked arm, shake it to hear if gas is sloshing around inside.
Float (COAZ-9202-B) available from Ford, but it's the type that's composed of two pieces of copper soldered together. Solder breaks down, gas seeps in, float settles to the bottom of the tank.
Carpenter sells a brass float that isn't soldered together, Rick might also have it.
Just use some outside clear silicone seal and after obtaining a new plastic insert from one of the suppliers of your choise. I got new ones to use temp on my 65 from Macs. Outside silicone acts a good glue and is designed to hold up in the weather. Easy fix brother. As for the starting is it an FE if so things are always going out of adjustment after they sit. I just fired mine up after sitting most of the winter and I could not get the choke to function properly it a maual choke. I had to spritz the linkage with carb cleaner and wd and it works fine now it was just a little stogy from sitting.
