What size are the nuts/bolts holding the fan stator (engine mounted inner shroud) to the engine? I had read somewhere that 6.0's used a 15MM (couldn't find that info for a 6.4) so I got a deep one because they seem to be nuts on a long bolt but I can't tell. Anyway, the 15MM deep socket isn't working.
I'm replacing the fan clutch and have the upper shroud out, but the there isn't enough room between that stator and the radiator for the old fan clutch to come out or the new one to go in.
It looks like the stator is in two pieces and the top half should come right out if I can get to the fasteners with the right socket
quick update - it was a 13MM but seems like I need to remove the lower fan shroud (along with the power steering pump) in order to get the stator out. Trying to avoid that by removing a CAC pipe on either side to make room below but can't get either one out!
Here's a couple of pics to illustrate my predicament. Any suggestions/tips would be greatly appreciated as I'm hoping to get this done today.
