CAI sure, K&N.. no If its NA more or less just make sure the factory CAI tube is hooked up and getting air from the grille. If turbo then youre pretty much stuck with a K&N type filter of some sort. Im running a Spectre cone filter on mine. Your other option is the 6637 mod
I have stock intake with the opening over the engine. round paper filter. Looking to upgrade. Does this help performance as it does on normally aspirated motors?
i went with a homemade cowl setup. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...ml#post9275522

Basically what you really want to do is NOT get the air from inside the engine compartment. So a cowl like F250 or from the grille like it was stock. Anywhere there is high pressure would be a good place (cowl / grille) I moved both my batteries to one side, built a air box / dam where the one battery used to be and stuck my cone filter there. Made a very noticable difference vs. the filter just sitting in the engine compartment.

I know this post is old, but is there any chance you have pics of how you rigged your grill intake? I did a PVC "hot air" intake (laying in the engine compartment) and I want to move it somewhere better. I would rather install it in the grill area and not cut any holes in the firewall. Any advice / pics / referrals to other threads would be greatly appreciated.
I dont think i have any pics, but basically i built a tray and moved both batteries to the passenger side. I just built a box out of some 16ga. sheet metal, and cut a hole in the core support. Mine was also pvc lol. If you want to see a real snazzy setup checkout RacinNdrummins build thread.
