Before I begin, just want to say hello to everyone, I'm new here. I'm currently experiencing a problem with driver and passenger side front power windows on my 95 F350. Both windows roll down fine but when it comes time for them to roll back up they both stop stutter and continue back up. When they do finally reach the top they can't make a good seal with the top of the door and make a thumping sound when trying to roll them up any further.
Sounds like possible pinion gear on motor starting to strip, thus the stutter and lack of power. Likely have to replace both regulators, not sure if small parts are available for them.
If it's the regulators(the gearbox that raises the window), you can do it yourself with basic hand tools.
It's all available at your local parts house. I did the drivers door of my '89 last summer, I think I paid about $90? It comes with motor/gearbox and the arm that attaches to window track.
If I remember correctly they are held in with a type of rivets that have to be drilled out. I had a friend that owned a body shop re rivet them. I believe the can also be bolted back in
Thanks for the heads up OldGrayFord, probably going see what I can do during the weekend when I have all my tools. It's been a PIA not being able to roll down my windows when talking to someone or whenever the weather is nice! Figured I'll drop by Ford and look at how much the parts cost.
