The right front power window regulator has failed. The motor runs, the window will "hop" a bit but will not raise. I can pull it up by hand and it will stay...it will lower, but not come back up.
Do I need to replace the entire regulator, or just a gear?
Those stupid plastic parts are constant failure points, in fact, the exact problem plauged my '90.
Numberdummy will tell you just how often those damn things failed. You should be able to get them at the dealer (don't) or the Help! section in most autoparts stores.
I've been a victim as well. You can get them at any parts store but i do know at kragen it's 8 bucks for the three pins to do one window motor. Part #74410
Cheap parts generally don't last as long, as a rule. I spent a couple extra bucks and went to the dealership to get the gear rebuild kit. This way it will last as long as the original did, and 20 years is pretty good for some plastic gears.

Yeah but. :)
In this case Dorman/Motormite was the outfit that made the parts for Ford to start with... http://www.outdoorpros.com/Prod/Dorm...51426/Cat/1271
In my case the gear was like new, only those break-away torque-limiters were messed up.

ps- You guys, like Bill the ND, can bad mouth the design all
you want, but don't see any of you making a better one. ;)
pps- The way I see it, they could have weakened the motor
etc -or- provided a release when things went wrong with a
powerful system, take your pick. ;)

We also have just the plastic gear that goes between the
window motor and regulator if that's what you need. Window Regulator To Motor Gear
Had the same problem with my 92 window. Luckily had a friend with an 87 rusting away in his backyard, tested the motor (lo & behold - it worked) which we pulled (motor & regulator -30 minutes). After replacing same into my truck - works perfectly, tested the removed motor. Worked great UNTIL it was re-assembled with the regulator, then it barely moved. Have a feeling that if the motor brushes were replaced, it would work again as intended. (Am checking around local area to see if this can be fixed cheap, just in case I need a back-up motor.)
have had the same problem. make sure you clean out all the old grease and broken bits of those 3 rollers or drive pins. I made mine from 1/2 dia nylon rod turned to 7/16 dia and 7/16 long. Be sure to use a good replacement grease. that was several years ago.
