289 cam help please

I don't know anything about #s when it comes to cams; so I have a question for all of you engine Gurus. I have a Engine Works hyd came 280/.460 lift I've been told conflicting information on the numbers what do they mean. Will it work well for a stock 289? Any other information would be be appreciated also.
Thanks

The 280 is the advertised duration in degrees. The valve lift is .460. Yes, it'll work in a 289. It sounds like a middle of the road RV type cam grind.

I run a similar cam in a 302/cruiseamatic in my 66 Mustang street car. It seems to be a good low to mid range RPM cam for torque. I'm pleased, it pulls the Mustang along quite well and seems to get a little better gas mileage.
