Multifunction Switch Questions

Hey guys, I have a 1994 F150 Lightning 137k miles with a brake light issue and an intermittent turn signal issue.

Last month, my turn signal for turning left wouldn't work every time I lowered the lever. I ended up having to lift and lower the lever to get it to stick, sometimes wiggling it will work. I also noticed that the hazard lights wouldn't work until I made a signal for left or right.

So I started to do a little research and discovered that the multifunction switch would start to dies slowly. Knowing this I decided that I could deal with the issues for a little bit as I'm a college student, haha.

So a few days ago I was told at a stoplight that my brake lights weren't illuminating. Went home and found that the running lights were fine when the head lights are on, however the brakes were indeed out. Checked the light bulbs and the fuses, all checked out okay.

Did a bit of digging around this site for some causes and found out the switch that is connected to the brake pedal can go bad after a bit. So I went down to O'Reilly's and bought a new one for $10.

Came home and got it changed out, still no brake lights.

So I ask if the multifunction switch going out would be the most likely problem causer at this time?

Thanks in advance everyone!

Well, the brake light circuits go through the multifunction switch, so that would be a good place to start...

So I went and got a new multifunction switch. Still no brake lights, however the hazards work without having to signal a turn now.

What could be the cause other than the multifunction switch and the brake sensor?

Sorry, that's what I meant in my last post when I said the sensor, I already replaced that yesterday

you checked the bulbs, meaning both elements? when you press on the pedal,do you read power with a volt meter at the plugs?
maybe someone put the wrong bulbs in.single 1156 rather than dual element 1157? (or visa versa, whichever it is.i always forget.)
one of the elements is the running lights, the other is brake lights.devoted wires.

I checked the bulbs meaning pulled them out and examined to make sure the elements were still attached. I may not have mentioned it in the first post, but the 3rd brake light isn't working either, so I figured it was something other than the bulbs that was wrong. Would one of the elements going out on the rear bulbs cause the 3rd light to not work either?

I don't have a volt meter right now but have been considering picking one up, so I will probably do that soon since they seem to be required for anything involving electricity on cars hah.

If the color of the wires at the brake light switch are
Light Green, and Light Green Red (Hot all the time),
unplug them from the brake switch and short them together.

The brake lights should come on along with the high mount
brake light. If they do, that would indicate a bad
brake light switch or it's not adjusted correctly.
