Brakes/ brake lights problem...
So someone recently broke into my truck... Busted column, cracked signal lights multiswitch.
I got everything replaced except for the turn signal/multiswitch. I ended up taking the guts out, replacing the casing that was cracked ont he multi switch and welding part of the plastic back together.
Anyways it nearly worked perfect again. Only problem was when you turn the signal for right, if you let the arm go all the way up, the signal wouldnt work. but if you hovered it mid way it would work fine.
Needless to say something wasnt contacting right. Plus when it did overshoot and go into the area where the signal lost contact, the brake lights would not work until you messed with it. but they would always come back.
Now yesterday I blew a brake line, replaced half the lines in the truck. I mainly blew the line cause I was pumping the brakes too much tyring to fidle witht he brake light to make it come back on. Now the brake lights will not engage at all.
What they will do: They turn on when headlights on (low red light like normal) The signal lights still work, they flash bright when each signal comes on (multi switch still has that contact problem, regardless the signals still blink) only problem is the bright brake light wont come on at all now, neither will they come on when headlights are off too. I think the hazard lights dont blink either in the rear...
I am guessing the actual pedal switch is ok? gotta be linked to the busted multi switch.
Any of you ford electronic gurus have any ideas? I REALLY need brake lights lol Fixing the multi switch soon although I have a feeling brake lights still wont work after multi replaced.
PS anyone have a multi switch from a parts truck I can buy?

Another possibility is that when the brake pressure was lost, the brake proportioning/warning piston got off center and is affecting the brake lights in addition to the turn signal switch. You can try bleeding the brakes to center the switch piston again (both front rear system have to have good pressure to center the switch piston.)
Does the light work with the parking brake on??
Good luck.
Which lights you mean? With parking brake on what shoudl I look for? I am pretty sure the parking brake has never really turned the lights off like alot of cars.
I first checked fuses, every fuse is fine. I also tested the actual switch on the brake pedal, checked out fine, bypasses and jumped the switch, still no lights.
so I took apart the turn signal switch (beware its like a puzzle inside and is hell getting back together.)
I noticed some springs not lining up correctly on the hazzard light portion of the switch. Got them fixed up, slapped the signal switch back together.
Brake lights back to normal, and even cleared up a problem I was having with the right turn signal where it would not blink when lever fully up.
Though I would update for search purposes.
