Hey guys Im up in CT and its been pretty cold lately and ive been noticing my heater seems to make noise when my fan speed is turned up to high and sometimes in midium. I was wondering how hard is it to pull the motor and the wheel?
Im thinking the wheel might be out of balance or something from the noise. I dont think its my motor but then again it could be. Any help or pictures would be great on how to get at it and remove it for inspection
I did this on my 95 351w. It was super easy! On the left side of the firewall you'll see the round motor portion of the blower. There only half a dozen or so screws and it will pull out directly towards the front of the vehicle. There are a few lines and hoses in the area you'll have to get around but it is not difficult. The wheel makes it a bit more interesting to get the clearance to get it out, but again its not bad. As for the sound you are hearing, I don't know if replacing the motor is the ONLY solution but they aren't expensive (like $20+ on Amazon). Hope this helps!
I don't have a photo of it in a truck but this is the blower motor.
Take it out and clean out the junk that gets stuck there. Also clean off the resistor block(red panel to the right) inside wires from junk that can cause fires!
That usally fixes most buzzing noises on high speed.
