1995 Explorer Heater Clicks

Hey Guys.. So I Have a 95 explorer and behind the glove box there is a really annoying clicking sound. It appears to be coming from the "heater?" box but its very hard to get into. Does anyone have any idea what this could be?

Thanks
Bill

Sounds like you might have a leaf or twig that has somehow made its way into the heater box. What ever it is , is probably rubbing the blower fan. Does the noise speed up when you increase the fan speed? You can pull out the blower motor ( comes out from the engine side of the firewall ) and the vaccum out the inside of the box.

The weird thing is that we can mess with the heater temp and this will change the noise and I can even get it to go away at the right setting. ANd like Gator says it seams to almost keeps a beat... very odd.. I will see about taking the blower motor out and checking for sticks.

I have the same thing with my 99exp. guess its time to get out the vacuum, sounds like that would be an easy enough place to start.

Hello, I have the same noise on my 2004 explorer, I found the source it is a little white box looking thing that has wires going in and out. It is located on the drivers side if you stick your head under the steering wheel to the right behind the controls for the airconditioner. Any ideas on what this part could be.
