F37SCCB1267 5 H B6
F378 8 27J A
manufacturing date of Sept 78 I tried the vin decoder but it wants a 17 digit #. Any help would be appreciatted.
F37=F350 cab and chassis
S=400 cid 2bbl V8 engine
C=Ontario Truck Plant
CB1267=1978 model year consecutive serial number
Model F378=F350 cab & chassis 2WD 10000 lb GVW
Axle 27J=(27) Dana 70 non-locking 4.10 ratio 7400 lb capacity (J) power steering
These are the codes that I'm sure of.
The way you have the numbers writen down is a little confusing.
The warranty plate will have the VIN on the first line. The next line will have, in this order, WB (wheelbase),Color (1 or 2 digits),Model (F378),Body (trim and back of cab eqipment),Trans (1 digit), Axle (27J).
The third line will have Max GVW (4-5 digits) year (75-79) and DSO two digits unless the truck was special ordered then it will be six digits.
the reason this concerns me is that last June I noticed that my hood was popped and my vacumn lines were pulled off and I'm sure that I don't have them right as the old boy isn't running right. Bad mileage and it does'nt start the same. When ever I see a vacumn diagram for this year I don't see any of the vacumn pump, amplifier or cannister that the diagrams have. I can see why there would be no cats but all the rest?. I was hoping there would be some hint if it really left the factory this way. The truck only has 85,k miles on it and it still runs strong but it's acting up and that started when the lines got pulled. I know who did it and he's long gone. He had money for dope but not rent. Any help would be nice.
PS my lawn mower has more pollution control. Lol thanx
