My 4x4 frame has the VIN F25BED16?39. I accidentally hit the frame with the plasma cutter while cutting the floor board so I don't know the ninth digit.
The frame is clearly a 4x4 frame while the VIN indicates 2WD

B = 300 1V I-6.
E = Mahwah NJ Assembly Plant.
D16?39 = 1968, assembled April 1968. April 1968 serial number range: D12,000-D25,999.
F250 4WD: The VIN would begin with F26.

Marti has all the original 1967/79 FoMoCo records, acquired them in the late 1980's when he found out FoMoCo was going to THROW THEM away.
It looks like the crossmembers are riveted on so it looks original. Did you get the original left door with the frame to check the warranty plate? I think that the factory made a mistake with stamping the vin.
No doors came with it or title. I was only interested in the 4WD frame when I got it. And I can't find a VIN on the front part of the frame, but the frame had been painted at one point.
