lug thread protection

I was sitting at a light up in the ND oil field area the otherday. I looked down at a steel wheeled F350 work truck cake'd with red clay, (bout normal up there) and the guy had vacuum or fuel line chunks pushed over his exposed lug studs. Damn , why didn't I think of that? Sorta use the same principle when installing connecting rods, just never merged the thought over to that application. I bet it saves time on the wheel swap with hand tools. just thought I'd share.

thats a bad*** idea! my lugs are recessed into the rims and i was trying to find something to work as a plug, but the right size of hose filled with rtv aughta work fine!

I wish the po of my donor truck would have done that. WD 40 and brake cleaner and 2 lugs are still fighting me. I saw some black rubber caps at the big truck store down the street and now I know what thier for. Thanx for opening my eyes, I,m 1 ounce smarter now.
