C9TZ-8146120-A .. In-Cab Tool Storage Compartment. Offered for all 1969/71 F100/250 2WD's & F350 Stylesides as a factory installed option, not just for Contractor's Specials.
The optional 25 gallon auxillary tank became a mandatory order for an obvious reason. The tool compartment was installed where the in-cab fuel tank was located.
Since your '78 doesn't have an in-cab fuel tank, I would assume it would fit. Shown here: 1964/72 Ford Truck Parts Catalog / Illustration Section Interior Trim, Page 28.
Does a Behind the Seat Tool Box from a 1970 Bumpside Contractor Special Fit in a 1978 Dentside? Anyone done this and Have Pics?
I have a contractor's special tool box from a 71 bumpside and it fits perfectly behind the seat of my 74 F350. I didn't bolt it to the floor but it fits like a glove. Here is a link to a picture of it:
national parts depot carries a nice heavy duty rear box, with the option of a lock safe,no pic on their web site but I have seen it,I beleive they call it the organizer, nice addition.
wonder where a person could find some thing like that.
I was totally lucky in find the one I have. I was a the pull and pay and found it in a 71 F250 Contractors Special. Haggled it down to $10. I have never seen another OEM one anywhere; Junk Yard, Craigslist, Ebay...no where. I got lucky!
Yes, the contractor tool box goes behind the seat where all trucks have the in-cab tank.
For the nth time, it is not a Contractors tool box!
It was available for ALL 1969/71 F100/350's, not just for Contractors Specials, which were 1969/70 F100/250 8' Stylesides.
See post 12 for the part number for the Contractor Special only tool compartments, the in-cab tool comparment and look in the parts catalog pics I posted refs to to see the differences.
Qwist on a bicycle, I hate mis-information and FTE has it in spades!
-------------------------------------------------------------------- Fritz: The in-cab tool comparment was only available factory installed, as it took the place of the in-cab fuel tank.
The optional 25 gallon auxillary tank became a mandatory order, for an obvious reason.
