Transmission help

Ok I have my 2000 powerstroke and it has a far amount of miles on it but the transmission isn't shifting right it shifts in to four gears but it dosent shift out of first until it hits like 22or23 mph and like 2500 rpm and i have to let way off the gas. what could be causing this do I need a new transmission or is it something else

Is it chipped or has the PCM been programmed? Shift points are done in the tuning. Yours sounds about right for medium throttle, depending on your gearing. Exhaust Back Pressure sensor could be loaded up, making the PCM think the truck is under a higher load than it really is.

Well it has 4in exhaust to 8 in stack and the ebsis unplugged and the chip is set to stock

Is the OD OFF light flashing? If this were a 2001 I would say it was a bad mechanical diode. But no 2000 truck had one.

Ya it's a 2000 and the OD light only flashes some times but after I shut it off it stopes and won't fast for like a week and then it will till I shut it off then won't again

What kind of scanner do you need or where should I go to get it done?

where are you located, maybe we have some one close to you that could scan your truck. a lot of us use auto enginuity scanners " A/E"

looks like diesel-fitter-bum01 is about 100 miles north of you . go up to post# 2 in tuglys sig. click on the "best map" and you'll see what i mean. send him a pm and maybe you guys can get togather.

i'm sure you done this but, when i bought my truck it was doing the same thing with the od light coming and going. turn out the original owner never done any maintience on the truck and it ended up being about 5 quarts low on tranny fluid . check your fluid if you have not done so.
