Electric window on passenger side wont work. Is there a seperate fuse for that side? And if so which fuse is it? I'm on the road and don't have a volt meter . There's no schematic on which fuse goes where.
No separate fuse. Does it work from either switch? May be bad motor if neither switch operates the window. Also could be a wiring harness/plug issue. Pull the switch and check the connection and maybe check behind the door panel too for wiring issues.
Neither switch works. It doesn't have a lock on driver's side either. I'll look into the motor and switches. Was hoping there was a quick fix fuse. It just all of a sudden stopped working. Thanks.
I would suspect a bad switch. The system needs both switches to operate. If you have access to another truck, borrow the switches and see if that does the trick. I would try the passenger side first. I just went through this with one of my trucks...turned out to be a bad switch on the passenger side. The drivers switch would not operate the passenger switch in either direction. The passenger switch would only work in the down position but even that was intermittent. I swapped in a passenger side switch from a different truck and the window worked fine. The passenger and driver switches are not interchangable.
Ive been trying to fix my dads 2000 passenger window for the past two years now with no luck. Ive changed both switches, window motor, checked wiring all with no luck. I was told that the GEM module could be bad but the only way to check it is to replace it with a new 300 dollar one.
My passenger window would not work from either switch. Had my son in law look at it and he tore the passenger side switch apart and dug and probed around and fixed my problem. Was not working from oxidation and arching and such. He cleaned it all up and it works fine now.
Glad that fixed it for me. Good luck to those of you who replaced your switches and still didnt fix problem. Just cleaning my passenger side switch worked for me.
Thanks for the info and the help everyone. Hope this will help with future switch problems.
I had a problem with drivers window on my 99. Would work great for awhile then quit? Was drivin me nuts!!! Turned out to be the motor had a bad spot in the armature and was like Russian roulette ! hit the bad spot and quit whack on the door a few time and fine! Replaced the motor and all was well with the world!!
Also I had taken it to shop and they said the motor and actuator will need replacing. Glad i vetoed that one. I would have new motor and still have the same problem.
Actuator?? Is that the other part to the window roller upper thing? Thats what was on top of my head??
