My passenger window will not work. I tried unplugging the drivers side duel switch and then tried to operate it from the passenger side . Nothing . Hooked up the drivers side and unplugged the passenger side . Would not work from the drivers side . The drivers side is fine and there is only 1 fuse so I am lost . The motor does not try to come on....any ideas ??
Take the passenger door panel off, take your speaker out, unplug the motor connector and test it with a multimeter while activating the switch. If its getting voltage then it might be the motor. If its not then I would double check the fuse with the multimeter and if everything checks out you might need a new switch...
Im sure someone else has a better plan of attack, but thats a good start.
Drivers side is fine...I have the 2 switches on that side and the single switch on the side that's not working . Seems wierd that both switches would go out the same time . Does not seem to be getting power at all to the motor...can't hear it trying to work . Was wondering if there is a seperate relay for each window . There is only 1.. 30 amp. fuse for all the power windows and the drivers side and rear one works .
It looks like each motor also has in internal circuit breaker on it. That could have gone bad, but I don't know if they are serviceable (I doubt it but don't know). Since it's only one window, I'd lay odds on the motor being bad, but figure out that it is indeed bad before throwing expensive parts at it.
I dont suppose it is a crew cab and you have the windows locked out???? The way I check the windows circuit is: I check power at the motor, when you push the switch up one wire should have power and the other wire have ground. Then I push the switch down and the power and ground wires will be opposite from what they were before.
Before you go through all that effort, have a friend hit the down button while you apply a little downward force on the window. Mine has gotten stuck in the track on a couple occasions that this approach has worked. It has only happened in warm/hot weather.
