Don't burn the truck. I know that with a little time and some patience we could collectively get you through your issues. I am by no means a diesel mechanic either and I still try to mess with my own. But I pray that you find a decent shop to take it to.
To all of you that took your time to posted suggestions or give a nice word of encouragement...... I Thank You...... Like I had posted, I began with rough idle, no power issue, purchased the AE from Clay which I got one day earlier than expected, without knowing how to use it and what to look for, I got super frustrated and ended up taking the truck to an old friend that had just moved back to Miami. Verdict: He put his computer on the truck, ran a few tests and within 10 minutes he told me it was the IDM.....A part that was changed out at the dealer 4years/20Kmiles ago. So, ordered the part from him which he had a hook up for locally, and presto, truck back in action. He did tell me that I babied my truck too much and that once in a while I needed to drive the hell of of it to clean it up..........SO, here you have it. I will be looking out for a spare 120 IDM which I will throw in my parts to go bin........
To all of you that find yourself down in sunny Miami, Florida and need the AE for any reason, You let me know and I will take it to you or get you in touch with this experienced Ford Diesel mechanic now owning his own shop in South Florida.
