Love urban myths too. Lol. And I always check snopes! Lol.
Thats Same Here to
Right when the Truck Starts and Runs I hit 12.7-12.8volts
then it Trickles up into the 13+ volts range
Then GP shutoff and it Jumps 14.0-14.5V or so
Also keep in mind that the Volts reading at the OBDII Port is Less than at the Batterys or Alternator by 0.2-0.4 volts
So you really have more than what the SGII is showing if you have a DVM check it out some time

The SCarey part is the OEM Unit is a 110amp unit
But its NOT Producing 110amps at Idel by any means
IDK what the Actual specs are for the 110amp OEM Unit are but it might scare Ya

That isn't too bad then...
At the batteries you could figure on the low end 12.9-13.0 volts or 13.1 to 13.2 volts.
Better than seeing 11.9 volts at the OBD port.

I've seen specs from anywhere of 45 amps at idle to 60 amps.
You see in Mustang's video he has a normal system amp requirement of around 60 amps at idle, that is why the stock 6G can only muster mid to high 13's for voltage. It's being taxed at idle and cannot handle it.

I would have to watch Closer next start
It was at
12.8volts the first 5 Seconds or less and I walked away It always gets better from there so I Didnt Veiw the Volts Gauge this AM on the First Crank today

I wait to start for the first time till the vac pump has stopped.
That gives the glow plugs a bit more time to heat the surrounding
area and I think it starts easier IMHO.
If you really want to know you can set the Xgauge in your SGII
to show the glow plug time on in seconds.

Right after startingthe truck will draw about 225 amps . This trickles downas tthe glowplugs turn off and the battery is recharged after cranking.
