When I use the light switch dimmer control does it also control the inside dome light. Mine is not working at present, need to tap into dimmer control for stereo ill. control. Thanks.
No one, just wanted to make sure it will work before I crawl under the dash and look for connector and check it with meter. Believe it is disconnect since I put in a different wiring harness a while back. The weather has been bad in atlanta this week with rain and possible snow later today, any help would be great. Thanks.
if i remember correctly, you turn the light switch **** all the way counter-clockwise. there is slight stop there, and if you turn it just a bit more, it turns the dome light on.

my '68 didn't have door jamb switches, though.
Thats kind of what I thought but was not sure. Just had the light switch out to fix the dimmer, broke connection. My instr. light would go on but before I fixed it would not dim, now it does. The door jam wire is easy to get to I will check that with a meter. Alot rain of rain here in atlanta this week so I'am tring to figure it out inside.
Courtesy lamps, located under the dash, at the far left and right sides, were an extra cost option, so not all trucks came with them.
Headlamp switch ****: Turning it to the left, turns on the dome lamp. Turning it to the right dims the instrument cluster bulbs.
Don't have courtesy lights on left/right but have the door jam switches to turn on upper cab light. Been looking at the wiring diagrams but I don't see the ill. bulbs on the diagram only gauges bulbs/wiring. Guess I will take another look.

where did you get a wiring diagram? I'd like a copy if it's available...
Been looking at the wiring diagram again but need to do some checking with the meter sunday. Looks like there is a blue/red stripe wirer for a cig. light I can tap into. Looks like the ill. lights on the instr. cluster are tied into the c.v. reg so I would like to leave that alone, don't want to blow the reg. I will post what I find.
The overhead light won't work for radio illumination power. The light switch and door jamb switches are constantly powered, and ground to complete the circuit.
If you want light power for the radio, the heater face plate is illuminated, that wire is right there by the radio opening. It'll be the proper power and allow you to dim it.

Heater face plate ill. perfect should be easy to find. I did find on a diagram a blue/with red stripe wire for cig. lighter light but don't know if my truck has that. I'am sure your correct been looking at wiring diagrams but I post what I find when I look at wiring sunday. Thanks!
