6.0L scenario

So powerstrokers, I have an issue. I know I have a bad injector or two but this is the story. I drive my truck anywhere, let it get to operating temperature and try to start it up and it will not fire it will idle for a second or two, and shut off. If i let it get cold it will fire right up. One of my friends joked that it has a cold starter in it Is there even such thing? Is it possible my injectors have anything to do with this issue?

Sounds like your FICM is going bad. There are posts in the Tech Folder as how to test it, plus alot of real knowledgable guys here on the forum, that I'm sure will chime in with some great advise.

Get the truck code scanned, check the tech folder for the FICM test procedure, and report your findings back here.

Brandon...do you have the Scan Gauge II? That thing is a MUST-ONE in the 6.0 diesels! It lets you see the numbers from just about ANY of the Ford sensors.... Oil Temp/REAL coolant temp and a bunch of others. All except fuel PSI and EGT. It even has a basic code scanner.

When you say it idles for a sec or 2, does it start like normal, then die? Or do you have to crank on it to get it to fire? Are you familiar with the stc fitting? Just throwing ideas.

Scangauge is my next purchase!! It cranks for a sec. If i have it plugged in a couple hours, it starts like it should. Sometimes even when its not plugged in, it fires like it should. So im taking it to the diesel shop this week an having it diag. So i will post back here and let you know what i find.

A scangaugeII is OK for gauges in an 04 but it won't read codes. You need something to code scan your truck also.

AutoEnginuity would be what I would recommend for scanning ability. Best bang for your buck in my opinion.

DashBoss is very good at reading codes.

Sounds more like an HPOP issue than ficm

Sounds like a HPOP problem. Oil seals different when cold and when hot. Switch dummy plugs and switch to stc fitting
