Cruise Light Out Cruise does not work

My cruise stopped working yesterday. When I tried to set it I got one blink of the cruise light. I inspected the switch screwed into the master cylinder and found it soaked with brake fluid. My connector has the pig tail fuse that Ford added in the recall. My original was part SW-5924.

The kit everyone talks about is SW 6350 but Amazon says this will not fit 2000 Excursion v10. So I got the BWD Cruise Switch kit from O'Reilly Auto (supposed to fit 2000 Excursion) and changed it out. Cruise still does not work but now I do not even get the one blink cruise light on the dash.

Any ideas?

Try bypassing the recall jumper & plug in directly. That fixed one of mine... Did you replace the switch & the pig tail ?? If so, go back to the switch you had & try again, see if you get the blink from the light at least.

Back to original switch, cable, and pig tail

OK so the aftermarket switch and cable (without pigtail) not only did not fix the cruise control but also resulted in the one blink when trying to engage no longer working. So I went back to the original (post recall) sensor, cable with pigtail (leaking sensor). Now this does not give me the one blink either.

Cruise was working fine until several days ago. I unclipped the brake booster sensor to see if it was soaked in brake fluid and it was. All brake lights still work. Two 15 amp fuses that control speed control look good but I changed them anyway.

Any ideas as to what to attack next?

In my case the issue was the control underneath the brake pedal. I had noticed the plug clip was broken so I pulled it off and was going to try to find a new one but noticed that it opened up so when I opened it there were burnt spots on the terminals I carefully removed the terminals and cleaned them and put all back together and my cruise started working again and still works.

Closure - Speed Control Works Again!

So I went to my Ford Stealer and bought the Motorcraft part SW-6350 Brake repair kit for $36.00 (looks exactly the same as the O'Reilly version for $25.00) This time I sprayed the receiving connections with electrical connection cleaner and used dielectric grease on both connections.

When I did the self test diagnostics I got one blink with the on, off, and resume buttons. No response to coast and set. Nevertheless I took it out on the road to test. Once I hit 45 mph everything worked fine.

Taking it to Charleston next week. Hopefully all will remain good.

Thanks!

Mine CC is completely dead. The buttons are lighted but if you press on one button there will be no action. Im not sure, where to start with this total loss.

Cruise Control Right hand 3 Buttons No Bueno! Any ideas?

Did the Diagnostic Self Test that is listed everywhere through out the forums and find that the 3 switches on the right hand side of the steering while do not give me an "flash" or indication that they are working when I do the diagnostic ...Any Idea what the next step would be, what most likely cause is?

Thnx-Mike
