Cruise control deactivation switch
Does anyone have a deactivation switch mounted on the inside of the cab down by the brake pedal? I had the Ford dealer in Prescott, AZ (Galpin) install my cruise on my 2004 F250 when I bought it. Apparently they shipped it out to a local aftermarket bumper shop who installed it. For some reason they had this switch installed at the pedal, I'm now in Las Vegas and the cruise stopped working. I believe it to be this switch that has gone bad. I took it to my local Ford dealer and they have no idea where to get the switch. I traced my cruise contol box to the pass. side fenderwell. It is marked with a bar code and "Excursion". I believe this to be Ford hardware so I'm kinda confused. Does anyone have any advice for me?

Just to test, try unplugging the switch from the harness. See if that does any good. If not, try shorting the pin in the harness with some wire.
If unplugging or shorting doesn't fix the problem, then it's not the switch. The cruise control must need a different polarity than the stock switch uses, otherwise they would have tapped into it.

There's also a pressure switch on the brake booster which is a secondary measure to disable the CC. I had one of these go bad and if you unplug it and short wire on the harness side it bypasses the switch. Been running like this for a few months...still need to buy that switch.

If that is an a/m cruise, you will not have the sensor on the brake bowl. I think thats why you have the switch on the brake pedel. I didn't know they made trucks without cruise control.
