Since we're on the subject of headliners and moisture, I have serious rust along the edges of the roof where it meets the sides. I was thinking of spraying the crap out of it with some rust converter paint. Not much room above the windshield to get paint in there. Anyone have any suggestions or tips?
Brush on por15, and your all set. It needs the rust for it to cling and activate. Mask everything off, because if it drips anywhere, consider it permanent. Wear latex gloves, it stays on your skin for a longgg time
Good stuff to know. I need to redo my liner this coming spring. I made mine years back. My neighbor redid his kitchen, and I took his refrigerator shipping box. Cut out a new panel, spray adhesive and black cloth from the fabric store. 6$ and an awesome looking liner. That is until my cab lights leaked rain water
Ditto on the leaking cab lights. Also seems as though I have a real condensation problem to which has warped my new headliner i bought (I think) 2yrs ago. The ABS route really appeals to me.
Here is a pic of the worst side(passenger) dunno why one side is worse than the others. The front and back only have about a 1/2 space to get the paint in there. I was thinking of a WD40 style nozzle with tube and spray away. There is a couple small 1/4" size rust spots on the exterior roof passenger side that if you poke at them will go thru. Prolly not good. lol
Do you know where I can buy the zillamat as well as the jute backed insulation? Does Home Depot sell it? Thanks - great job on the sound insulation in your truck!!!
Im just getting ready to do mine. I do have a question, does anyone know where I can get the trim for the headliner? I have been looking everywhere. I have a 78 F250.
I'll post up some pictures has I do it this next week.
E-bay or Craigslist is probably your best bet.
I see sets, both painted and chrome versions, listed quite often.
What years are usable? Can you go all the back to 67, or did they change in 73?
I'm glad this came back up. I don't have a headliner or even the trim, but it would be a good project to keep me off the streets for a couple of hours...
