4 years a go I bought 4 skyjacker nitro shocks, with a "lifetime" warranty.
125K miles they have started to wear out. Went by the shop i bought them from, To claim the warranty, they have to pull them, ship them back to the company, and then after the company inspects them they will ship new shocks back. I asked the shop how long this will take. I was told 3 to 4 weeks. He informed me that skyjacker makes it a pain so people just buy new shocks and not bother with the warranty.
Just a warning, and i think i am going to go with the autozone shocks. They have always swapped out parts with no hassle.
Monroe makes Skyjacker, Rough Country, Rancho, overall about 75% of all the shocks in lift kits out there, including Jeep OEM shocks. Gabrial makes quite a few as well. Bilstien, Fox, and the more expensive shocks make thier own.
Monroe use 3,000 / 5,000 / 7,000 / 8,000 / and 9,000 numbering for most thier products. I believe Rubicon Express and Pro Comp are made by Monroe. Monroe makes them in thier Georgia plant and sells them to the lift kit manufacturers. In general the Gas shocks are stiffer but have faster rebound (keeps tires planted) where the Oil filled shocks have a smoother ride. Some manufactures spec the valving for rebound/dampening but most are the same for the Jeeps. You'll notice the stickers are never installed when you get your shocks!
